To slow down or not to slow down?

December is here, and with it, all the chaos: social events, Christmas shopping, the bloody elf on the shelf, and the looming invisible deadline of December 24th.

It’s a hectic time of year, and the pressure can feel relentless. But here’s the hint you might need to hear: the world doesn’t stop after December 24th—it goes on.

This time of year, you’ll hear conflicting advice. Some will tell you to slow down, take a break, and rest. Others will say, “Push hard, finish strong!” And the truth? Neither is wrong—it depends entirely on you.

I’ve seen so many clients grappling with this exact decision lately. Many feel stuck between wanting to rest and feeling guilty for not doing enough.

Here’s the truth: both can be true. You can be tired and still making progress. You can take your foot off the gas without losing everything you’ve built this year.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, start here:

🎄 Let go of the invisible deadline. December 24th isn’t a finish line—it’s just a date. Your business, goals, and dreams will still be there in January.

🎄 Look at where you are. Are you feeling stretched thin? Maybe it’s time to loosen the grip, do what you can and regroup as you gear up for next year. It’s okay to say no to things with all the extra load

🎄Feeling energised? Then ride that wave and channel that spark into the things that really matter to set yourself up for next year!

🎄 Decide what’s realistic. Sometimes, if all you’ve got to show up is 70%, that is better than burning out trying to give 100%.

🎄 Be kind to yourself. The pressure of the holidays is real—both professionally and personally. If the elf on the shelf doesn’t move, the Christmas cards don’t get sent, or you don’t finish your to-do list, it’s okay.

Your choice this month isn’t about whether to slow down or speed up. It’s about choosing what serves you best.

Because when January comes around, it’s not the December burnout you’ll be glad for—it’s the clarity and momentum you gave yourself by listening to what you truly needed.

So, pop on some Mariah Carey, remember to enjoy this time of the year, and do what feels right for you!
